We are pleased to inform you that a non-executive Board has been formed for the purpose of guidance and definition of the overall strategic direction and future growth of the Pharmed Group.
In operation over 10 years, the current Board of Directors, Declan Devine, Dara Murphy and John Gannon, view this as a tactical move as the business evolves across all sectors of the healthcare industry across the UK and Ireland. Currently employing over 130 personnel across 5 locations within the UK and Ireland, the intention for the Group is to expand its current operations moving further internationally into the medium and longer term future.
Two external industry key opinion leaders have been appointed to join the Group’s Board;
Mary Harney
Ms. Mary Harney (Chairperson and Non-Executive Board Member)
A former politician, Mary Harney has served as Tánaiste from 1997 to 2006, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment from 1997 to 2004, and as Minister for Health and Children from 2004 to 2011. She also served as a TD for the Dublin South – West and Dublin Mid – West constituencies from 1981 to 2011. Mary was leader of the Progressive Democrats party between 1993 and 2006 and again from 2007 to 2008. Mary resumed her role as leader in 2007 after her successor, Michael McDowell, lost his seat at the 2007 general election. Mary is the longest-ever serving female member of Dáil Éireann.
Brendan Farrell
Mr. Brendan K. Farrell (Non-Executive Board Member)
Brendan Farrell has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HiberGene Diagnostics since the company’s establishment in November 2009. He has over 30 years international experience as a senior executive in the Diagnostics industry, with over 25 years at board level. His extensive international experience extends to the areas of marketing, sales, licensing, acquisitions, fundraising and investor relations in addition to general management. His versatile career path has allowed him to gain direct experience of Diagnostic markets in the USA, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. From 1994 to 2008 Brendan held the position of President/CEO at Trinity Biotech Plc., a NASDAQ listed Diagnostics company. Brendan earned his M.Sc. in Biochemistry at University Cork, Ireland.
As Managing Director of the Pharmed Group, Mr. Declan Devine has “…no doubt this new Board structure will contribute greatly to the successful achievement of the future vision and objectives for the Pharmed Group…”
