Here’s some information about the speakers at the event;
Dr. Norah Patten is a faculty member at the International Space University and a citizen scientist-astronaut candidate with Project PoSSUM. She is a passionate advocate for STEM and has experience in radio, television, and public speaking. Dr. Patten has participated in several citizen science campaigns and has a wealth of experience in spacesuit testing, spacecraft egress, microgravity flights, high-g flights, hypoxia training, and more. She will share her experiences of pursuing her dream of space exploration and her STEM initiatives in her talk, “From Ireland to Space.”
Connie Merrick is a Professional Coach and Strengths Profile Practitioner accredited by the International Coaching Federation. She spent 30 years in the global pharmaceutical industry, gaining a deep understanding of the industry’s complexities, cross-functional teamwork, and meeting external stakeholders’ needs. Connie established her coaching practice after leaving the pharmaceutical industry, partnering with clients to deepen their awareness, improve their performance, and enhance their quality of life. Her successful sales career was built on excellent communication skills, active listening, powerful questioning skills, intuition, and a non-judgemental nature.
Dr. Illona Duffy is the National Director of Continued Medical Education (CME) at ICGP. She graduated from RCSI in 1993 and worked with her father in Swan Park Surgery until his retirement in 2021. She is the clinical lead of the Swan Park Surgery, which has 5 full-time and 1 part-time GPs and a GP trainee. Illona is involved in medical education as a GP trainer and CME tutor and provides placements to undergraduate medical students. As the Medical Director of NEDOC, the GP out-of-hours service for the Northeast region and north County Dublin since 2016, she supervises the GPs, creates clinical protocols, and manages medication stock. Illona is also a regular contributor to both regional and national media discussing medical issues.
Shane Coleman, presenter of Newstalk Breakfast and columnist for the Times Ireland edition, is the moderator for the event. He is a former Political Editor and Business Editor for the Sunday Tribune and has authored four books on politics.
